Mamma Mia, Pineapple Express & The Olympics
Stevep-medium 08:13 PM on Tuesday Aug 12, 2008
Might have made a mistake skipping Batman/Dark Knight and instead seeing 2 movies, that barely added up to 1. First was Mamma Mia (wife’s selection). Absolutely terrible. Pierce Brosnan and singing are not a good combination. I was also the only male under 35 in the theater and one of only 6 men vs. 30+ women.   Followed that with Pineapple Express, a Seth Rogen/Jud Apatow flick….good start but faded and turned into full-out Tarrantino action flick w/ the grossness included. Good humor and random awkwardness and Seth Rogen is a natural genius, but pales in comparison to SuperBad in the Apatow genre and Harold and Kumar in the pot-flick category.

Not only do I not enjoy the Olympics, but I felt really dumb watching the opening ceremonies.  Tell the truth – had you ever heard of these countries: Mauritania, Nepal (I thought that was a city), Gadon, Kyrkistan, Anorra, Suriname, Palau, Taualu, Comoros, Lesotho, Muldova?  Did you know there were 2 Congos (Island of and Republic of)? This was like learning there’s another division in the NFL that I had no idea existed – and none of the players are good enough to be on a someone’s fantasy team.  They really should update the rules on what it takes to become a "country."
